Women’s Soccer: Eagles Battle D-2 Allen University to 2-2 Draw

Ellie Mikeska and Hana Lohmann each added to their team-leading total, and the defense held the Yellow Jackets in check as TBC Eagles Women's Soccer battled NCAA Division 2 Allen University to a 2-2 draw. Both teams had opportunities in the final few minutes, but both goalkeepers made spectacular saves to cap a defensive showdown.

Mikeska put Trinity on the board less than three minutes after kickoff with her fourth goal of the season. Just seconds after Mikeska's second shot attempt was saved, she stood in front of the net and received a pin-point pass from Lohmann (assist) and headed the ball past the Allen goalkeeper for TBC's first tally.

Allen tied the score in Minute 15 on Tatyana Machado's fourth goal of the season, and that score held up until thirty seconds before halftime. Lohmann took a free kick from the top of the semicircle and placed her shot perfectly into the top left corner of the net to retie Mikeska for the team lead in goals. Trinity Baptist took that 2-1 lead into the break.

Both teams played solid defense: Alyssa Lechuga and Laine Ford were their normal defensive forces and got help from all TBC teammates. Raven Sorter and Sara Duque Castano were equally tough in Allen's backfield and also got help from the Yellow Jackets.

Machado snuck a fast break past a charging Brandalynn Sims in Minute 73 to retie the game, and both defenses and goalkeepers made that score hold up.

Sims saved 6 of 8 shots on goal faced, including two in the last five minutes. Allen's Rachel Rolle was just as tough, saving 8 of 10 shots on goal, including three during that same final span.

The Eagles have completed their home schedule and have one match left in the regular season. TBC will visit the South Region's Bob Jones University at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 28.

The South Region Tournament follows beginning on November 7 at Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, Georgia.
