Baseball: Brigman Pitches, Lott Powers Eagles to Win over Toccoa Falls

A complete game by Jacob Brigman and a home run from Larson Lott was just enough as TBC Eagles Baseball, the #2 seed in the tournament, defeated #3 Toccoa Falls College 2-0 in the opening round of the 2025 NCCAA South Region Tournament. The win means TBC will wait to see which team they will play on Wednesday.

With the game scoreless in the bottom of the second, Dominic Gattinella led off with a double off the right-center field fence. Then, in his return from injury, Lott (the designated hitter) followed by launching a 2-0 fastball over the left-field fence to score Gattinella ahead of himself for the game's only runs.

[Larson Lott's home run was the official game-winning hit.]

TBC had a few other opportunities, but Toccoa pitcher Luke Pruitt made the necessary pitches to avoid further damage.

Brigman allowed only 2 hits in 7 innings for the win, his eighth. He walked 4 and struck out 12. He had trouble in the top of the sixth (bases loaded with two outs), but he got strike three called to strand all three runners. He soon after struck out the game's final batter with the tying runs on base in the seventh.

[Jacob Brigman: W, CG, 0 R, 2 H, 4 BB, 12 K in first-round win]

Pruitt was also very good. He went the distance, allowing only one hit (Nate Nogueras single) other than Gattinella's double and Lott's home run. He walked three and struck out 5.

The Eagles will play again on Wednesday against Tuesday night's winner between #5 Bob Jones University and #1 University of Fort Lauderdale.

Bob Jones defeated #4 Southeastern Baptist College 12-7 in extra innings in Game 1 on Tuesday, and Fort Lauderdale had a first-round bye as the top seed.

UPDATE:

Trinity Baptist will play Fort Lauderdale at 2:15 p.m. EDT in Round 2 on Wednesday.
