Volleyball: Eagles Get Senior Night Win for Foster, Spann

Seniors Jani'ce Foster and Alexus Spann played their final regular-season home game for TBC Eagles Volleyball on Saturday, and the duo ended their career on the home court with a win. Foster and Spann got help from all teammates as the Eagles defeated the Chargers of Georgia Highlands College in straight sets with scores of 25-14, 20, and 12.

Jani'ce Foster, an outside hitter, is a senior from Tampa, Florida.

On her Senior Night, Foster totaled 8 kills and 25 total attempts on offense; she also had a service ace. Defensively, she had 16 digs. Overall, Foster was a huge part of the team's success.

Alexus Spann, the Eagles' libero, is a senior from Chicago, Illinois.

On her Senior Night, Spann led all players with 28 digs while also amassing 1 kill and 2 service aces. Spann also helped spear the Eagles onto victory with her leadership.

In the first two sets, the Eagles and Chargers started with back-and-forth points. Each team then had impressive runs to take a four- or five-point led only to see the opponent return the favor and retie the game. The difference came after 8-8 ties in each of the first 2 sets.

In Set 1, the Eagles then pulled away to win 13 of the next 19 points to hit 25 and take a 1-0 lead.

In Set 2, TBC lead 10-8 before forging ahead to 23-14. The Charges then scored 6 of the next 7 points to pull closer at 24-20, culminating with an ace, before Higgins finished the set with a kill attempt that was batted out of bounds off a Charger blocker for the final point.

Set 3 saw a similar start that did not last quite as long. Trinity began its separation much earlier, turning a 3-3 tie into an eventual 13-5 lead. The Eagles kept pressing and got the score to 24-11 by winning 9 of the next 15 points. The first attempt at match point went astray, but a Georgia Highlands volley then sailed long on the final point to secure the win.

Higgins led all players with 11 kills as she really dominated the third set, and Kacey Brown set up 17 total kill attempts to lead in assists. The full team leader board is as follows:
