Women’s Soccer: Buckley, Bido, Rife Named NCCAA All-American

The honors continue for TCJ Eagles Women's Soccer.

After the Eagles made the national semifinals and finished the season as the #3 team in the nation, the NCCAA on Saturday released the All-American rosters, and three Eagles made the team. Ayla Buckley and Gina Bido were named to the NCCAA Division 2 All-American First Team, and Lucy Rife was named to the All-American Second Team.

#5, Ayla Buckley: Sophomore Midfielder (Jacksonville, FL)

Buckley scored 2 goals (one a game winner) and assisted 3 more during the season. Not in the box scores, however, are her ability to move the ball from the backfield to the offensive side and her defensive prowess. Buckley was an integral part of the team's success, using quick dribbling and precision passing to help the Eagles score and solid defense to help thwart the opposition's attacks.

#19, Gina Bido: Freshman Defender (Coral Springs, FL)

Although Bido was second on the team with 5 goals, her defense landed her on the first-team roster. Bido helped lead a slew of defenders that made things very difficult for the opposition. The defense allowed only 1.28 goals per game, and Bido was one of the primary defenders who intercepted passes, knocked balls away from attackers, and blocked several shots. She also sent the ball up the pitch countless times to set up scoring opportunities for herself and her teammates.

#11, Lucy Rife: Senior Forward (Alachua, FL)

Rife led the Eagles and tied for 9th in the nation with 7 goals scored. Her 54 total shots ranked #6, and her 34 shots on goal was #5. Three of her goals were official game winners, which is tied for 3rd in the nation.

Head coach Alexa Pittman expressed her joy in seeing her players earning their honors. "I couldn't be prouder of these three," she said. "They have poured their whole hearts into this program and represented our team with excellence, humility, and grit. The Lord has blessed them with incredible talents, and they've used every opportunity to honor Him and magnify His name."

She then discussed the young women individually. "Lucy has been a part of this program for four years, and we are so thankful for the countless ways she has shown up for this team. For Ayla and Gina, this is just the beginning, and we are excited to continue growing with them and seeing how the Lord uses their lives and their gifts."

The honor is not about only talent but also dedication. "Their recognition as All-Americans is simply a reflection of the faithfulness and hard work they show every day," said Coach Pittman.

NOTE: TCJ Eagles Women's Soccer also had an All-NCCAA Tournament goalkeeper in Katianna Grace and three scholar athletes in Rife, Kira Goodwin, and Shayla Mendonca.
