Women's Soccer: Eagles' Season Ends in National Semifinal

The fantastic season for TCJ Women's Soccer ended on Wednesday, and the Eagles finish as NCCAA Division 2 National Semifinalists. The Eagles faced the South Region champion, #1 team in the nation, and two-time defending national champion Bob Jones University Bruins. The Eagles played spectacular defense, holding the Bob Jones to only 8 shots on goal, but one snuck through in Minute 67 to give BJU the lead at 1-0. That was the game's only goal, scored by Elli Cummings.

Trinity goalkeeper Katianna Grace finished with 7 saves for a season-ending total of 87. At the close of Wednesday's match, Grace is #6 in the nation in saves and #4 in saves percentage at 82.7%. As a team, the Eagles scored 27 goals and allowed 22, both ranking #5 in the nation.

[Freshman Katianna Grace is an All-NCCAA Tournament goalkeeper.]

Her tournament performance of 12 saves in 13 shots on goal faced earned Grace a slot on the All-NCCAA Tournament roster as the only goalkeeper from all six teams.

Offensively, Lucy Rife is tied for 9th in the nation with 7 goals and third with 3 game-winning goals. She is 6th in total shots with 54 and 5th in shots on goal with 34, all in 17 games played. Camila Lopez is 5th in the nation with 5 assists. Lopez and Rife both scored in Trinity's first-round 2-0 win over Grace Christian University on Tuesday.

The Eagles will finish as either the #3 or #4 team in the nation once the final rankings come out after the championship game. Head coach Alexa Pittman is the South Region Coach of the Year.

The Eagles finish their season with a total record of 7-6-4, including the win over Grace Christian in the National Tournament opener. Trinity defeated two NAIA teams, two NCAA Division 3 teams (one twice), and Toccoa Falls College in the South Region. Their four ties came to a scholarship NCJAA team, one NCAA Division 3, and Toccoa Falls twice (once in the South Region Tournament). Even the losses were very close against Bob Jones and scholarship NAIA and NJCAA opponents.

Congratulations to the 2025 TCJ Eagles Women's Soccer team -- national semifinalists and one of the finest teams in Trinity history.
