Women's Soccer: Raysick Saves Shot in Final Moments to Preserve 1-0 Win over Wesleyan College
Trinity goalkeeper Olivia Raysick saved all three shots on goal she faced in her 90 minutes of work, including a potential game-tying shot in the final moments, as TCJ Eagles Women's Soccer completed the season sweep of NCAA Division 3 Wesleyan College with a 1-0 shutout on Monday. The win was the second in the last three games and the eighth time in ten games this season that the defense held the opponent to three goals or fewer.
Raysick's third save came with just a three minutes left to play to keep Wesleyan from tying the score. Wesleyan's Alana Woods took a free kick front and center from nearly 40 yards out, and Raysick left her feet to knock down the high shot ticketed for the top of the goal to keep her team in the lead at 1-0.
The Trinity defense would not allow Wesleyan another attempt.
Lucy Rife scored the game's only goal, and the Trinity defense made sure that one was enough.
In Minute 62, Rife took a pass from Camila Lopez (assist) from 10 yards beyond the midfield circle. Rife received the pass at the top right corner of the goal box. Wesleyan goalkeeper Brooke Hankinson, who was terrific in the net, raced with Rife for the ball, but the ball took a hop over a diving Hankinson, allowing Rife to tap it into the right side of the net.

The goal is Rife's sixth of the season, which leads the team.
Hankinson, though, saved 13 of 14 shots on goal faced, and five of those saves came on the dive, including one in which she stopped flush while she moved left, reversed her footing, and caught a low shot to her right just off the ground.
Trinity took 24 total shots with Rife leading at 6 attempts and 4 on goal. Tatum Wolke fired 4 times (3 on goal), and Taylor McCrory and Kira Goodwin each had 3 shots (2 on goal) to lead the Eagles.
Defensively, Katianna Grace, Alyssa Lechuga, and Gina Bido held the Wolves to only 5 total shots with 3 on goal thanks to steals, body blocks, and forced errant passes.
The Eagles have two home games remaining and two more on the road. On October 18, TCJ battles Toccoa Falls College beginning at 11:00 a.m. On October 25, Bob Jones University comes to town for a 12:00 p.m. matinee. The Eagles will end the regular season at Johnson and Wales University of Charlotte and Agnes Scott College on October 27 and 29, respectively.
