Women’s Soccer: Eagles Notch Homecoming Win over Agnes Scott

Hana Lohmann tied the score, and Ellie Mikeska put Trinity ahead to stay as TBC Eagles Women's Soccer earned a hard-fought homecoming victory over the NCAA Division 3 Agnes Scott College Scotties by a final score of 2-1. The win was the second in a row for the Eagles, and they achieved this one in comeback fashion.

With under 12 minutes left in the first half, Lohmann found a loose ball that Anges Scott's defense had deflected. Lohmann fired from a few yards outside the box of 18 and lined the ball over the head of the Scotties' goalkeeper and just under the crossbar in the center of the net.

The goal was Lohmann's third of the season and tied the score at 1-1, a score the teams took in halftime.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Mikeska was positioned perfectly on a blocked shot from Gabriella Clark. Goalkeeper Olivia Rosado dove to save Clark's shot from just outside the goal box, and Mikeska tapped the ball right back into the net to give the Eagles the lead with her third goal of the season, and the Eagles' defense made that lead stand up.

That tough Eagles defense held the Scotties to 4 total shots and 2 on goal. Alyssa Lechuga played a stellar backfield once again, even saving a potential shot on goal herself. Lechuga got great help from Laine Ford, who often forced Scottie attackers to give up the ball instead of take shots.

Meanwhile, the offense took 20 shots with 12 of them on goal. Lohmann (7, 4) and Mikeska (5, 3) combined for 12 of those shots with the rest coming from Clark (1, 1), Ford (1,1), Tatum Wolke (4, 2), Lucy Rothfuss (1, 1), and Madi Bost (1).

Rosado saved 10 for Agnes Scott.

TBC goalkeeper Brandalynn Sims saved Agnes Scott's second shot on goal, but Tatiana Cope got the first one in to give the Scotties a 1-0 lead in Minute 15.

The Eagles will play their final home game of the season against NCAA Division 2 Allen University at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23. The remaining two games afterward have TBC visiting the South Region's Bob Jones University on October 28 and USCAA Johnson and Wales University on November 1.
