Women's Basketball: Eagles Get Senior Day Win for Smith, Parrish
Seniors Caroline Smith and Emma Parrish both scored in double figures in their final home game as TCJ Eagles, and two teammates joined them. All 10 Eagles got significant minutes, and after Parrish broke a 3-3 tie with her first three-pointer, #8 TCJ Eagles Women's Basketball never trailed again in gifting a Senior Day win by defeating the Trinity College of Florida Tigers 81-35.
The Tigers scored first on a three-pointer 27 seconds in, and Laila Harvey tied it with a three of her own very soon after. Parrish broke the tie with the first of her 18 points on the day. Overall from the field, Parrish was 6 for 10 with two three-pointers and 4 for 4 at the line in setting the game high in scoring. It was the 18th time (counting all games played) she hit double figures. She also pulled in 8 rebounds, assisted 5 other scores, and stole 5 possessions from the Tigers.

As of the close of Saturday's play, Parrish is #19 in the nation in scoring average in official games at 15.4 with a high of 35.
Smith was 4 for 10 from the field and added three made free throws to finish her home schedule with 11 points. She also had 4 rebounds and a steal.

This was the 14th time Smith hit double digits (counting all games played). She averages 10.5 points per game in official contests with a high of 24 and 5.5 rebounds per game.
The Eagles scored 20 or more points in each of the first three quarters and held the Tigers to a quarter high of 12 in the third. TCJ shot 44% and held TCFL to 25%.
Travesha Giddens scored 15 for the Eagles on 7-for-13 shooting. As of Saturday's close, Giddens leads the nation in field goal percentage by 0.3% (51.8 to 51.5) and is 1 of only 5 players to shoot over 50% from the field.
M'lani Vitela finished second in the game with 17, shooting 50% from the field with a three and sinking all 4 foul shots. Laila Harvey totaled 9 while Victoria Broadway finished with 5, Desiree Greene had 4, and Alexandra Perez added 2.
The Eagles will finish the regular season on the road at two South Region venues: Southeastern Baptist College at 6:00 p.m. EST on February 20 and #3 Pensacola Christian College at 2:00 p.m. on February 21.
The South Region Tournament follows from February 26-28 at Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, Georgia.
