Women’s Basketball: Eagles Split at Southeastern Baptist, Pensacola Christian to End Season

The regular season has ended, and TBC Eagles Women's Basketball split the final two games during their trip to the Central time zone to close out the schedule against two South Region teams on Friday and Saturday, February 21 and 22. TBC defeated Southeastern Baptist College 54-39 on Friday but fell to the #1 team in the country, Pensacola Christian College, 83-61 on Saturday.

Friday: TBC 54, SEB 39

A huge fourth quarter turned a 1-point lead after three into a 15-point victory. With TBC ahead 34-33, Alessandra Henriquez, Ranajala Brown, Laila Harvey, Alexis Hall, Kirsten Jospeh, and Caroline Smith combined to put TBC on a 14-0 run before SEB's Sanaa Holmes scored the first points of the quarter for her team. The Eagles finished the period with a 20-6 margin by shooting 50% from the field after shooting 60% in the third.

The teams combined for 62 points in the second half after scoring only 31 total in the first.

Overall, four Eagles each scored 12 points: Brown, Harvey, Joseph, and Smith. Henriquez finished with 4, and Hall had 2. Harvey recorded a double-double by also pulling in 11 rebounds.

Saturday: PCC 83, TBC 61

Against the NCCAA Division 2's top team, Trinity Baptist again had a massive fourth quarter, outscoring the defending national champions 21-8 with 7 of those points coming from the line.

Smith got her second-highest point total of the season by scoring 23 points on 7-for-11 shooting from the field and 9-for-12 shooting at the line. She also had 16 rebounds, 8 on each side of the ball. Her 16 rebounds are a new season high and give Smith her 6th double-digit rebounding total and fourth double-double of the season.

Brown totaled 16 points and hit a pair of threes in the process. Harvey and Jospeh each scored 8, and Victoria Broadway finished with 6.
