Women’s Basketball: Brown Sets Career High in Scoring at Bob Jones
Ranajala Brown set a career high with 24 points, and Kirsten Joseph scored 14, but TBC Eagles Women's Basketball came up short at Bob Jones University as the Bruins fended off a comeback effort with a big run late in the fourth to win 82-61.
Brown connected 9 times from the field with 3 of them going for three points and added a trio of free throws to compile her new career high. The 24 points is the 14th time in 23 total games this season in which she has hit double digits and 5th time (3rd straight) in which she has topped 20.
Jospeh used a pair of threes and a 4-for-4 performance at the line to amass her 14 points. In now 9 games, Jospeh has scored 10+ 7 times and 20+ three times.
The Eagles appeared to have a chance at a second consecutive 17-point comeback against the Bruins, having done so at TBC on February 1. Trinity trailed 57-40 with 4:14 left in the third after a BJU three-pointer. The Eagles got points from Brown, Caroline Smith, and Jospeh to close out the third quarter and begin the fourth to pull to within 7 at 64-57 with 6:21 left to play. However, the Bruins finished the game on an 18-4 run for the final tally.
Another big difference was at the line, where BJU was 19 for 27, and the Bruins also sank 9 three-pointers: 5 from Anna Laine Wilder and 4 from Jenna Brooks.
Laila Harvey finished with 8 points for the Eagles, and Smith totaled 6. Victoria Broadway scored 5, and Alexis Hall had 4. The Eagles had 7 total three-pointers and sank 10 free throws.
The Eagles will close the regular season with three games away. First, TBC will visit Paine College on Saturday then travel to Southeastern Baptist College and #1 Pensacola Christian College on February 21 and 22, respectively.
