Women's Basketball: Smith Sets Season High in Scoring vs. FSCJ

Caroline Smith set a new season high point total, and Ranajala Brown continued her fine play as TBC Eagles Women's Basketball hosted the Manata Rays of cross-town rival Florida State College of Jacksonville Thursday evening inside Trinity Gymnasium. The Eagles has a solid first quarter and a very strong fourth quarter, but FSCJ pulled away in the second and third on route to an 84-46 win.

Smith did the bulk of her damage at the line, where she made all seven attempts.

She added six layups and short jumpers to compile her team-leading 19 points, which was second overall on the night.

Brown scored 13 points for her fifth double-digit game of the season, including D-1 and D-2 exhibitions, and fourth in her last five games overall. She was 4 for 5 from the field with 3 three-pointers and 2 for 4 at the line.

Brown also led all players with 10 rebounds and stole 3 possessions for a remarkable overall fine performance.

Laila Harvey scored 8 points for the Eagles while Jaedin Houston and Alessandra Henriquez each added a three-pointer.

FSCJ got 22 points from Tanaujeah Brown, who came in averaging that total. Ameera Nayani scored 11, and two teammates each had 9 to help lead the Manta Rays.

The Eagles will pause for Thanksgiving break then return to the home court to battle NCCAA Division 2 newcomer Champion Christian College on Thursday, December 5. Three of the four December games that follow are on the road.
