Quite often, the best fit is in one's home town. After playing softball and attending college for one year in Georgia, one of Jacksonville's champions has returned home and transferred to TCJ. Alyssa Smith is a terrific defender at numerours positions who can also pitch and swing a bat. Head coach Rob Balckmer has added Alyssa to the groing TCJ Softball roster.

Alyssa Smith -- Jacksonville, FL

Alyssa is a graduate of Jacksonville's Univeristy Christian School, where she played varsity softball beginning in eighth grade under head coach Keith Stroud. She is transferring in from NJCAA Andrew College. Alyssa is the daughter of Mr. Robert and Mrs. Jill Smith.

As a freshman at Andrew, Alyssa batted .368 in 9 games played and also made 2 pitching appearances. In high school, Alyssa was a two-time state champion with University Christian. She fielded a perfect 1.000 as a senior and carried that defensiove prowess into her intital college campaign. 

Academically, Alyssa earned her way onto the dean's list as a freshman at Andrew. 

When asked why she transferred to Trinity College of Jacksonville, Alyssa cited the chance to return to Jacksonville and play in front of her friends and family while growing Spiritually and making new friends. "I wanted to come back home. I believe I will grow in my faith," she said. "Besides playing softball, I'm excited to meet new people and make lasting memories."

After college, Alyssa plans to begin her career as a physical therapist so she can, in her own words, "help people get back to the daily routine."

The Eagles welcome Alyssa Smith home to Jacksonville and into the Trinity family.
