Softball: Avery Garcia Adds Versatility to Eagles Roster

Versatility proves big in college sports, and TCJ Eagles Softball has singed a young woman who provides that versatility by playing all nine positions. Avery Garcia is a local product who can hit, pitch, catch, and field. She brings a steady glove and winning experience to the Eagles, and she will become a valuable asset in many capacities.

Avery Garcia – Orange Park, Florida

Avery hails from Oakleaf High School, where she was a four-time varsity letterman and four-time district champion.n She is transferring in from Jacksonville's University of North Florida.

Avery twice earned All-County (Clay) honorable mention. She ranked #4 in Florida Class 6A and #1 in District 3 in fielding percentage during her first season as a catcher.

Her most-coveted award is the "Hero Award" given to student athletes who show dedication, skill, and toughness on the field and set examples for teammates and fellow players. Avery exemplified these qualities by learning to play all nine positions throughout her 15 years of playing in both school and travel leagues.

Avery excelled academically, too. She was co-president of the Athletic Leadership Council, a National Honor Society member, and Advanced Placement Capstone recipient during her high-school career.

When asked why she chose Trinity College of Jacksonville, Avery cited the personal touch she experienced upon her visits. "The coaches were very welcoming from the beginning," she said. She also sees opportunities for internships in various programs and ministries, including outreach and missions.

Avery looks forward to playing softball at the college level while making new friends and – most importantly – growing in her faith and service to the Lord.

Trinity looks forward to having Avery Garcia join the TCJ family in the fall.
