Softball: Eagles Add Run Prodicer Leone Rotondo
Offense leads to wins, and TCJ Eagles Softball has added some pop for next season's lineup. Coach Rob Blackmer found a young woman eager to continue her strong hitting as she progresses into the college ranks. Leone Rotondo brings a run-producing bat and a solid work ethic to the Eagles in addition to experience winning in multiple sports and the classroom. She is ready to contribute to an Eagles offense that already hits the ball with authority.
Leone Rotondo -- Inverness, Florida
Leone played high school softball at Citrus High School in Inverness, where she played four years on the varsity roster. She also played travel ball for many years under Coach Mayson Lamp and finished youth softball with the UA Legends.
Leone is the daughter of Mr. and. Mrs. Anthony and Victoria Rotondo.
At Citrus, Leone won Citrus County Utility Player of the Year three times, made the GC8 All-Conference roster three times, earned Most Improved Varsity Player in 2024, and won the Coach's Award in 2025. Leone won two two district championships with the Hurricanes.
As a senior in 2025, Leone batted .430 with an on-base percentage of .520. She totaled 28 hits, 5 home runs, and 20 RBI's.
In addition to softball, Leone performed in weightlifting for Citrus High School. The athletic senior set the following marks at Citrus High School:
- 3-time Citrus County All-Chronicle Heavylifter Player of the Year
- GC8 All-Conference Girls Weightlifting
- 3-time District Qualifier
- 3-time Regional Qualifier
- 1-time State Qualifier
- Top 10 in the state rankings
- Snatch Record - 125 lbs.
- Clean and Jerk Record - 165 lbs.
- Bench Record - 195 lbs.
Academically, Leone earned honors as the CTE Student of the Week, and she threw out the first pitch for Inverness Little League.
Her performance in the classroom and on the field led to Leone's induction into the Citrus High School Hall of Fame in 2026.
When asked why she chose Trinity College of Jacksonville, Leone cited the welcoming greetings she received from everyone she encountered on her visit. "I felt like I was at home," she said.
After college, Leone plans to pursue her career as a sports physical therapist. Her life verse is 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12, which says, "and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody."
The Eagles are pleased to have Leone Rotondo join the TCJ family.
