TCJ Eagles Softball played the first two of five consecutive games against South Region competition when they welcomed the Eagles from the University of Fort Lauderdale to Trinity Softball Complex. Trinity hit the ball well, but Fort Lauderdale's defense mane many tremendouns plays, and their offense had a big inning in each game on route to winning both by scores of 12-3 and 8-0.

In the bottom of the first in Game 1, the throw to first on Cali Dunn's ground ball to short went astray, and Carlin Payne raced home to tie the score at 1-1. Payne led off by reaching on an error and advanced to second on Piper Young's base hit. 

Dunn doubled home Young (single) in the third then tripled in the 5th to drive in Young (error) again for Trinity's third run. 

Overall, Young was 3 for 6 with 2 runs scored on the day, and Dunn was 2 for 5 with 2 driven in. Chesnee Isom, Payne, Ashlee Shaw (2), and Madison Whitmeyer also hit safely for TCJ. 

Fort Lauderdale had a 6-run third inning in Game 1 and a 5-run second in Game 2. They got 3 RBI from Sarah Messina and 4 from Marissa Weaver to lead the offense. Ava Gelm pitched all 11 innings and earned a pair of wins. 

Trinity will face the Eagles from first-year program Baptist University of Florida for the first time at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, the two teams will play a South Region double-header. The final home games of the season are on April 13 against NCAA Division 2 Edward Waters University. The three twin bills that follow are all on the road to close out the regular season.
