Softball: Eagles End Season at South Region Tournament

TBC Eagles Softball ended its season on Friday when they faced Paine College in an elimination game in the NCCAA South Region Tournament. TBC and Paine remained scoreless until the sixth.

Paine, though, broke through with a three-run sixth and added one more in the seventh to win the game 4-0. TBC's Piper Young allowed only two earned runs in her seven innings of work without walking anyone and striking out two. Paine's Marina Hinojosa and Kayla Carter combined to pitch seven scoreless innings on four hits amd six walks. Trinity had opportunities, but the two Paine hurlers made pitches and got errorless defense behind them to keep the Eagles off the board.

Ashlee Shaw was 2 for 4 while Hannah Wilen and Young also hit safely. Shaw, Taylor Foster, and Carlin Payne each stole a base.

The season ends with the Eagles having won 6 games since March 7. Three of those wins came against Paine, including a 15-14 win when Ellarie McGatha drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh. TBC also notched wins over NAIA Webber International University and two NCAA Division 2 teams in Edward Waters University and Fort Valley State University. In the win over Webber International, Young allowed only one hit and drove in the game's only run.
