Jasson Soriano put the Eagles on the board just minutes into the season finale for TCJ Eagles Men's Soccer, but the Knights of NCAA Division 2 Middle Georgia State University came back to tie just past the midway point of the first half. MGA then scored twice in the second to win 3-1.
The play that led to Soriano's second goal of the season began with a throw-in just past midfield. After a few bobbles, Noah Amesbury grabbed possession and dribbled up the left sideline into the top left corner of the penalty box, around the last defender, and to the left side of the goal box. Amesbury (assist) then found Soriano two yards outside the top of the goal box and made a perfect pass. Soriano then shot left-footed across his own body to his right and the goalkeeper's left to make the score 1-0 TCJ in Minute 5.
Soriano took both of Trinity's shots on the day.
MGA, though, tied the score in Minute 25 on the first of three goals from Javier Gongora Andres, who is tied for the MGA team lead in goals. Andres scored again in Minutes 51 and 52.
Trinity goalkeeper Kaiden Douglas saved 9 of 12 shots on goal faced in his 90 minutes in the net.
The regular season has ended, and the Eagles now await the final seeding and schedule for the South Region Tournament, which is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 5. The tournament is at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina. Participating teams include TCJ, Bob Jones, Toccoa Falls College, Pensacola Christian College, and Carolina Christian College.
