South Region play came to Talon Field on Saturday as TCJ Eagles Men's Soccer hosted Toccoa Falls College. After falling behind, Trinity started to make some moves, but Toccoa Falls added on in the second half to win the match 5-1.
Noah Amesbury scored Trinity's goal just before halftime. A long pass up the pitch to Jah'Kelsen Jeune got deflected to Amsebury in front of the goal box. Amsebury guided the ball past the goalkeeper into the right side of the net to make the score 3-1.
Toccoa, though, added two goals in the second half, both from Patricio Bennevendo in Minutes 72 and 77. These goals followed three from Edwin Gonzales in Minutes 28, 30, and 37 of the first half.
River Turlington saved 2 in his 45 minutes of his first start in goal. Kaiden Douglas worked the second half and helped his defenders stave off further Toccoa attacks.
The Eagles will finish the regular season with two games on the road. First, TCJ visits the South Region's Pensacola Christian College for an 8:00 p.m. EDT kickoff on Saturday, October 25. The finale will occur at Middle Georgia State University at 4:00 on Tuesday, October 28 in Macon, Georgia.
