Men’s Soccer: Amesbury’s Hat Trick Helps Lead to 4-2 Win at Carolina Christian

Noah Amesbury notched the Eagles' second hat trick this season, and Jah'Kelsen Jeune also scored in TCJ Eagles Men's Soccer's 4-2 South Region win at Carolina Christian College on Saturday. All six goals came in the second half. The win is the second over the Centurions and the third in four tries against South Region competition.

Amesbury started the scoring with his fifth goal of the season in Minute 60 after taking a pass from Kevin Arevalo (assist). Jeune scored only two minutes later (his second) as the two teams traded goals early in the second half to forge a 2-2 tie. The score remained knotted for the next 13 minutes.

Amesbury put the margin of victory on the board in Minutes 75 and 89 for Goals 6 and 7 on the season. The first of those two came on a penalty kick to give the Eagles a lead they would not relinquish, and Richard Bernardo de Lima assisted the final goal to give TCJ some late insurance they would not need.

Christian David saved 4 of 6 shots on goal in his 90 minutes of work. Three of those saves came in the second half as Carolina attempted a comeback. The defense stepped up when needed late and limited the Centurions' opportunities.

After Carolina held the Eagles to only 6 total shots in the first half, the Trinity offense created numerous openings and fired off 21 times in the second. Amesbury put all 7 of his shots on goal to keep the pressure on the Centurions' goalkeeper while Jeune took 5 shots with 4 on goal and de Lima put all 4 of his shots on goal to help lead the Eagles.

Carolina goalkeeper Ethan Holdren was terrific in the net, saving 17 of the 21 shots on goal he faced to keep the game close.

The Eagles have one final date of seven straight on the road when they visit NCAA Division 2 Embry Riddle University in Daytona Beach on Wednesday, October 8. The next two are at home vs. NAIA Florida National University on October 14, and a big match-up with South Region rival Toccoa Falls College follows on Homecoming Saturday, October 18.
