Gabriel Bonini scored a goal against a NCAA Division 1 opponent on Tuesday, and Christian David saved 13 as TCJ Men's Soccer played its second match against a D-1 team when they visited Jacksonville's University of North Florida. Although UNF won the game 7-1, the Eagles put on a strong showing as they prepare for South Region play.
In Minute 65, Noah Amesbury found Bonini just left of center outside the penalty box. Bonini controlled the pass, dribbled away from a UNF defender, and shot the ball past the goalkeeper into the right side of the net for his second goal of the season.
Diego Perez, Leandro Concepcion, Ashton Karney, and Christy Kerry Jean Francois all took aim, and 4 of the 5 total shots were on goal.
David faced 19 shots on goal and saved 13, and Colby Callahan had a save in his four minutes of work. David received recognition for his play from UNF ESPN+ broadcaster Richard Miller. David averages under 3 goals per game allowed and has 53 saves despite facing two NCAA Division 1 opponents.

The Eagles will visit Central Georgia Technical College for a 4:00 p.m. kickoff on Friday, September 26. The remaining seven games afterward feature four against South Region competition. The first two of those occurs at Bob Jones University on September 30 and at Carolina Christian College on October 4.
