Men's Basketball: Eagles Top 100 for South Region Win
TCJ Eagles Men's Basketball hit triple digits for the second time this season as they notched a South Region win over the Chargers of Southeastern Baptist College on Saturday. Two players scored 24, two more hit double figures, and six others contributed points as TCJ won the game 104-79.
Davion Fitzgerald's free throw (above) with 2:30 left to play was Point #100 and highlighted the 44-point second half after the Eagles scored 60 in the first.
In just the first half, Sherrard Adams hit 5 of 6 three-point attempts, both free throws, and both 2-point attempts to amass 21 points in 15 minutes of work. He added a sixth three-pointer in the second half to finish with 24 total points.

Tayden Owens also scored 24, getting the bulk of them in the second half. Owens was 9 for 12 from the field, including 3 for 4 from beyond the arc, and 3 for 4 at the line. The Adams/Owens duo combined for 46% of the Eagles' points and earned co-players of the game honors.
The Eagles gradually built a 20-15 lead, and until that point, SBC kept the game close. Adams started a 19-0 run with a pair of threes and both his foul shots. He, Owens, DJ Thompson, and Alex Dawson finished the run before SBC broke the string to make the score 39-17. The Eagles never trailed nor had a tie since Owens scored the game's first basket 59 seconds in. They continue to add on until halftime, at which they led 60-27 by shooting 59% with 9 of their 14 total three-pointers.
The Chargers, though, scored 52 points in the second frame to reduce a 33-point halftime deficit by shooting 68% from the field and finished at 50% overall on the afternoon. They had four players reach double figures and surpassed their season scoring average. SBC had 11 three-pointers, 7 in their big second half. Christian Taylor (14), Chancler Burks (13), Steven Black (12), and Amen Jackson (11) were the Chargers' leading scorers.
Also topping 10 for the Eagles were Diego Fernandez with 19 and Dawson with 16. They combined for 22 first-half points, and Dawson totaled 4 three-pointers on the day. Fernandez was 12 for 13 at the line.
Thompson finished with 9 points. Maximus Fuentes scored 4; Derek Rivers totaled 3; Shadrack Kakora and Adrian Walker each had 2; and Fitzgerald's lone point was the 100th of the game for the Eagles.
South Region play continues for the next three games when Pensacola Christian College comes to twon on Tuesday, February 3. A road trip to Toccoa Falls College on February 6 and Bob Jones University on February 7 follows before the Eagles return home to face USCAA Trinity College of Florida on February 14.
