Men's Basketball: Fuentes Scores 41 in Win over Beacon
Maximus Fuentes scored 48% of his team's total points thanks to 74% shooting from the field and more as TCJ Eagles Men's Basketball defated the Blazers of USCAA Beacon College 86-79 on the road on Monday. Fuentes hit 20 of his 27 total shots in amassing 41 points, more than double his nearest competitor on the court.
Fuentes sank 14 of 19 field goals, and 7 of those came in 9 attempts from three-point range to give himself and his team 35 points from the field. He was also 6 for 8 at the line to bring his total to 41. This total is nearly 2.5 times more than his previous season high of 17 set against Florida Gateway College on November 15.

Fuentes did this all in 30 minutes of work. His total is in the Top 10 of TCJ Men's Basletball history for points scored in a single game.
Brandon Hill and Diego Fernandez each scored 13 for TCJ. Hill was 4 for 8 from the field and 5 for 7 at the line while Fernandez used a pair of three-pointers and three free throws to help accumulate his baker's dozen.
The game stayed very close with the teams trading leads several times throughout the first half. Trinity began to pull away in the final three minutes and built a lead as high as 8 before Beacon inched closer. The last score before the buzzer was one of Fuentes's 7 three-pointers. Trinity led 47-36 at the break.
Trinity built a 14-point lead at several moments durung the second half, but each time Beacon was able to trim that margin down to single digits. The Blazers got to within 5 late, but Trinity got that margin back up to 11 at 86-77 before Beacon scoerd on the game's final play.
DJ Thompson and Sherrard Adams each scored 5. Jayden Little sank two baskets for 4 points, Alex Dawson hit 3 foul shots, and Josh Bledsoe added 2.
Beacon had 5 men in double figures: Tre'Von Redd (18), Ernesto Hichez (18), Javeon Wells-Reddick (15), Tony Wade (11), and Noah Wilhelm (11).
The Eagles will visit NCAA Division 2 Flagler College in St. Augustine for a Tuesday night exhibition contest. The next home game is on Thursday when the Eagles host the University of Fort Lauderdale in a women's/men's double-header set to begin at 6:00 p.m. After Thanksgiving, the men's team will visit Jacksonville's Univeristy of North Florida for an exhibition with the NCAA Division 1 Ospreys on November 29 to close out the month.
