Men’s Basketball: 14 Eagles Score vs. Ave Maria

Fourteen players scored points and three reach double figures in TBC Eagles Men's Basketball's game with NAIA Ave Maria University on Saturday as the Eagles had a strong offensive showing. The high-powered Gyrenes, though, shot over 50% from the field and hit from long range often to win the game 122-75.

Diego Fernandez (17), Ian Kanady (11), and Ethan Bray (10) led the Eagles in scoring as the trio combined for 13 of 25 (53%) from the field, 6 three-pointers, and 6 free throws.

Shadrack Kakora and Micah Johnson electrified the crowd when they got opportunities in each half. Each man scored 6 points, their first official collegiate scores, and Johnson got his on three slam dunks, two of which came on alley-oops.

Kakora and Johnson were 6 for 12 (50%) combined from the field.

Jace Spinelli hit a three as part of his 5 points while Xavier Rose scored 4 in limited action as did Gavin Korth-Loder. Brandon Hill totaled 3 points, and Kenny Berry, Davion Fitzgerald, Bryan Falcon, and Colman Smith each scored their first official points as TBC Eagles.

The Gyrenes converted 18 three-pointers and shot 57% overall from the field on route to the win. Miles Monchecourt (22) and Michael Klekus (21) each topped 20 points, and three teammates had 10+.

The Eagles will play their final three games of 2024 on the road against NCAA Division 2 competition. First, TBC travels to West Palm Beach to face Palm Beach Atlantic University on December 17. The Florida Tech Winter Classic in Orlando has the Eagles playing Florida Technical University on December 20 and Lynn University on December 21. Play will then resume on January 10.
