Men’s Basketball: Three Eagles Top 10 Points at Florida Gateway

TBC Eagles Men's Basketball got double-digit scoring from three players with one closing in on 1,000 career points as the Eagles battled the Timberwolves of Florida Gateway College Tuesday night in Lake City.

The game remained very tight for nearly the entire time until the Timberwolves pulled away late in the second half on route to a 79-68 win.

Diego Fernandez led all players on the court with 21 points on a 7-for-17 performance from the field. Fernandez also drained 4 three-point shots and 3 of four 4 throws to put up his game high total.

Jace Spinelli scored 12 points off the bench by hitting 3 three-pointers of his own plus a deuce and a foul shot.

In between Fernandez and Spinelli was Xavier Rose, who added 16 points to bring his career total to 979. Rose sank 7 field goals and 2 free throws to compile his 16 points. He also assisted 4 other scores.

With the next two games played at Trinity, Rose looks to surpass 1,000 points in front of the home crowd.

Jacquez Anderson also hit a pair of threes for the bulk of his 7 points. DJ Thompson totaled 5 while Ethan Bray scored 3 and Brandon Hill and Gavin Korth-Loder each contributed 2.

The Timberwolves got points from 10 different men, including four in double figures. Ahman Greenidge and Ty'Jahn Wright each led FGC with 12.

The Eagles will play their next two at home vs. NCCAA Champion Christian College at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and NAIA Ave Maria University on Saturday. The first semester of play ends with three games, all away, against NCAA Division 2 opponents between December 17 and 21.
