Men’s Basketball: Rose Eclipses 900 Career Points in Game at Mercer

With his first basket of the night, Xavier Rose eclipsed the 900-point mark in his fabulous TBC career while Diego Fernandez led the team in scoring and finished second overall as TBC Eagles Men's Basketball played their second exhibition game of the season against an NCAA Division 1 opponent.

The Eagles traveled to Macon, Georgia, to face Mercer University. Seven teammates also contributed points, but despite TBC's more solid second half and a great performance at the line all night, Mercer won the game 101-43.

With 10:36 left in the second half, Rose received a pass from Fernandez and laid the ball in for the first of his two scores. That basket gave Rose 901 career points, which surpasses one milestone and gets him focusing on the coveted 1,000-point mark. Rose finished with four points for a total of 903; he also had 2 assists. TBC has 19 games remaining plus the postseason.

Fernandez totaled 15 points for the Eagles, stemming from 5 baskets and 4 free throws in 4 attempts. In fact, the team hit 10 of 13 foul shots (77%) on the night. Ian Kanady was perfect in three attempts and scored 7 points overall.

In addition to Rose, Brandon Hill, Jace Spinelli, and Ethan Bray each scored 4; Josh Bledsoe finished with 3; and Jacquez Anderson added 2.

The Eagles will travel to Sarasota on Saturday to face NAIA New College of Florida as the second game of a women's/men's double-header that begins at 2:00 p.m. EST. One last NCAA Division 1 exhibition occurs at Tallahassee's Florida A&M University on November 22, and November's play will end at Ave Maria University on Monday, the 25th.
