Men's Basketball: Eagles Edged Out by Five at Bob Jones
Both teams erased 10+-point deficits, and the last 8:00 was a classic seesaw affair that included 5 lead changes and a tie as TBC Eagles Men's Basketball played another fantastic South Region contest at Bob Jones University on Thursday. BJU, though, took the lead for good with 4:22 remaining and held off the Eagles to win 93-88.
Two Eagles topped 20 points. Diego Fernandez came alive for 18 second-half points for a game-high total of 27, and Jacquez Anderson split 21 points fairly evenly between both halves.
Trinity came back from a 10-point deficit late in the first half. After falling behind 43-33 with 1:08 left, the Eagles got a three-pointer from Anderson and two defensive stops. They got an inbound pass with 0.7 seconds left before the buzzer. Fernandez took the inbound from Xavier Rose and sank a three from the corner as the buzzer sounded to pull TBC to within 4 at 43-39.

Bob Jones was incredible at the line, sinking 26 of 28 total shots, including all 19 from five different players in the second half. Brandon Wilkins's three-pointer at the 4:22 mark gave Bob Jones an 83-82 lead, and the Bruins used four of those free throws to help maintain the lead.
Brandon Hill scored 15 points for the Eagles, and Rose finished with 13. Jace Spinelli had a pair of threes for 6 total points while Zach Kiadii had 4 and Gavin Korth-Loder scored 2.
As a team, the Eagles shot over 60% in each half and finished at 61.4% for the game. They totaled 11 three-point shots (Anderson 5, Fernandez 4) and made 6 free throws (Fernandez 5 for 6).
Bob Jones got 21 points from Kenney Garrick to lead his team, and four teammates hit double figures: Elijah Couples (16), Trevor Brunson (15), Wilkins (13), and Camden Gearhart (10). Garrick (7) and Couples (8) combined to go 15 for 15 at the line.
