Men’s Basketball: Eagles Set Another Season High, Fall Short vs. Pensacola Christian

Just one week after setting a season high in scoring, TBC Eagles Men's Basketball surpassed that total for a new season high Tuesday night against South Region rival Pensacola Christian College. However, PCC matched their season high from earlier in the season and outlasted Trinity for a 100-93 win.

Diego Fernandez again led the way for Trinity, scoring 25 points, which was third overall in the game. Fernandez was 8 for 11 from the field, including a three-pointer, and 8 for 9 at the line as he maintained consistency throughout the game.

Jace Spinelli was also clutch at the line, sinking 8 of his 11 attempts to garner a good number of his 17 total points. Spinelli also had a three-pointer and four deuces in his big game.

DJ Thompson (16) and Zach Kiadii (11) also hit double digits, and both aided in Trinity's massive comeback attempt after TBC trailed 52-39 at the half. With a pair of threes, Thompson scored 13 in the second half, and Kiadii hit all three of his second-half shots for 7 of his 11 total points.

Xavier Rose finished with 9 points while Jacquez Anderson had a piar of threes for 6, Ian Kanady scored 4, Brandon Hill contributed 3, and Gavin Korth-Loder added 2.

Each team shot over 50% from the field with Trinity at 54% (63% 2nd half) and Pensacola at 52% (54% 2nd half). Both teams totaled 8 three-pointers, and Trinity was 25 for 35 at the line compared to Pensacola's 16 for 21.

The difference came in the first half when Pensacola started a 13-0 run near the midway point to go from down 20-18 to ahead 31-20. That 13-point run was the margin for PCC at the break.

Trinity got to within four at several different points in the second half, but Pensacola responded with scores each time to hold off the great effort. Kaiden Pack (15 points) and Brandtly Koskie (12) led Pensacola in the second half to keep Trinity from catching up, and each totaled 26 points on the night. Pack was 9 for 13 at the line, including 7 for 9 down the stretch. Three teammates – Aaron Wagner (14), Colin Wilkerson (14), and Malachi Herbster – all hit double digits.

TBC will visit the South Region's Johnson University of Florida on Thursday then visit NJCAA Florida Gateway College on January 23 before playing at South Region Trinity College of Florida on January 25.
