Men's Basketball: Kiadii, Fernandez Combine for 39 at D-1 Bethune-Cookman

Zach Kiadii and Diego Fernandez combined for 7 three-point shots and 39 total points, and six teammates contributed points in TBC Eagles Men's Basketball's exhibition at NCAA Division 1 Bethune-Cookman University. The duo took over near the end of the first half to put Trinity on a 14-3 run. The D-1 BCU Wildcats, however, ended the run with 8 straight points to close out the half and won the game 104-63.

With the team trailing 45-17 with under four minutes remaining in the first half, Kiadii hit a three-pointer at the 3:36 mark to start the rally that lasted for the next 1:55. Kiadii hit another three and a deuce, and Fernandez sank a three in between. Xavier Rose then contributed a three-pointer of his own to cap that big run. The Wildcats then scored 8 straight to take a 56-31 lead at halftime.

Kiadii and Fernandez continued their hot shooting throughout the second half. Overall, Kiadii finished with 22 points to lead the Eagles and earn the second-highest total in the game behind only BCU's Jakobi Heady (25). Kiadii was 7 for 12 from the field and 2 for 5 from three-point range. Fernandez scored 17 on five three-pointers and a deuce.

Rose and DJ Thompson each scored 7 points, Ian Kanaday and Aubrey Howard both hit a three-pointer, and Brandon Hill and Oramis Figuereo each added 2 points.

The Eagles shot 47.8% from the field in the first half and 70% overall from the line. The defense pulled down 32 rebounds to BCU's 31.

The Eagles will next visit NCAA Division 2 Valdosta State University for an exhibition game at 7:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, November 18. South Region play then begins with away games at Southeastern Baptists College on November 30 and Pensacola Christian College on December 1.
