Baseball: Lott Homers, Rosado Pitches Solid Relief in DH with Abraham Baldwin

Despite coming up short on Tuesday, TCJ Eagles Baseball got solid performances from a number of players with two in particular having banner days against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Catcher Larson Lott and reliever Trey Rosado came up big in TCJ's efforts against the first-place team in the NAIA Southern States Athletic Conference. Lott swung the bat especially well, and Rosado threw the ball very effectively. Abraham Baldwin, however, won both games by scores of 13-4 and 9-5.

Lott was 3 for 5 in the two games with a home run, a double, a walk, a run scored, and two driven in. In Game 1, Lott was 3 for 3 and homered in the bottom of the 5th. After Gadriel Burgos singled with 2 outs, Lott launched a drive over the center-field fence for his second home run of the season and RBI's 15 and 16. He also drew a walk.

In Game 2, Lott hit the ball hard both times before giving way to Markeinis Brown behind the plate in the top of the 4th. Lott caught a total of 10 innings spanning the two games.

Rosado entered Game 2 in the top of 4th. ABAC had runners on 1st and 2nd with 2 outs, and Rosado induced a popup from the leadoff hitter to end the inning. He then pitched 3 more scoreless innings against an NAIA powerhouse that averages over 8 runs per game and had already scored 9 in the game and 22 total on the day. He pitched a perfect 6th inning.

Rosado's 3 full innings were the only times at bat in the two games in which ABAC did not score at least 1 run. This was the 2nd consecutive outing in which he pitched scorless baseball for more than three innings against a mighty NAIA offensive lineup.

Other Notable Performances

In the bottom of the 1st in Game 2, both Burgos and Goeke came through with 2-run singles. Burgos drove in Logan McGann (single) and Tyson LaChapelle (walk), and Goeke's knock scored Gattinella (fielder's choice) and Burke (single). Those hits gave Trinity a 4-3 lead, but ABAC came right back in the second and added on from there until Rosado shut the door. Burke drove in Angel Perez, running for Brown, with a base hit in the 5th.

In the opener, Gatinella plated Burgos (walk) with a base hit to center in the 1st and later doubled in Perez (runner for Lott, double) in the 4th.
