Junior pitcher/first-baseman Jacob Brigman is a NCCAA All-American.
On Tuesday, the NCCAA released the annual baseball All-American roster, which includes Brigman on the second team.
Brigman, a product of Miami's Florida Christian School, finished the season with a 1.89 ERA, which ties for the team record (Jon Shiver). The Homestead native set new team records of 8 wins, 7 complete games, and 91 strikeouts. His 81.0 innings pitched is second in team history (Michael Cohick, 86). He is not just a pitcher; he is a baseball player who understands the game and will do what it takes for him and his teammates to win."
Brigman pitched very well in every outing. Even in his 5 losses, he allowed only 9 total earned runs in 30 innings (2.70 ERA). In his 8 wins, his ERA was 1.41.
Brigman won his first three and his final three starts, which included five innings in a near combined no-hitter (1 out remaining) against John Melvin Christian to end the regular season. His final appearance was a 2-hit complete-game shutout against rival Toccoa Falls College in the opener of the South Region Tournament. The Eagles finished as the runner up.
His performaces earned Brigman five NCCAA Pitcher of the Week honors.
At the plate, Brigman reached base in over 30% of his plate appearances while scoring 13 runs, driving in 7, and stealing 1 base.
