Baseball: Eagles Are South Region Runners Up, 8 Named All-Region

TBC Eagles Baseball rallied from a 10-run deficit to make the game close late, but the NCCAA's #3 University of Fort Lauderdale Eagles fended off the effort and added some insurance in the ninth to win the South Region Tournament championship game 16-9. Trinity Baptist finishes as the South Region runner-up.

While trailing 7-0 as they came to bat in the bottom of the fourth, TBC started scoring. Graham Gorman doubled home Nate Nogueras (single). A few moments later, Logan McGann walked with the bases loaded to bring in Nogueras.

Fort Lauderdale extended the lead to 12-2 with a 5-run top of the sixth, but Trinity got those 5 runs back in the bottom half. Three singles loaded the base with nobody out. Gorman walked with one out, and Darren Goeke, Jr. was hit by a pitch to bring in the first wo runs. Ryan Onkst singled to bring in Gorman and Dominic Gattinella (single). Gavin Williams's grounder went astray to allow Goeke to score to make it 12-7.

Nogueras hit his first home run of the season in the seventh, a long drive that cleared the left-field fence.
