TBC Eagles Baseball played its final games against NAIA scholarship competition with a Tuesday matinee against Thomas University. Although Thomas won both games, the Eagles got excellent pitching again from Jacob Brigman and clutch hitting from Tyson LaChapelle in Game 2. Thomas won the opener 8-1 and then took the nightcap 4-3 in late comeback fashion.

In Game 2, LaChapelle answered Thomas's two-run top of the first with a base hit to right that brought in both Graham Gorman (runner for Ryan Onkst, walk) and Gavin Williams (single). The game remained tied at 2-2 until the third.

In that third inning, a hit batsman and a walk with two outs brought up Darren Goeke, Jr. Goeke drew a third consecutive walk to bring in Logan McGann (double) and give the Eagles a 3-2 lead.

Brigman worked his way out of trouble in the first and second innings then pitched flawlessly for the fourth and fifth. The two first-inning runs were unearned.

However, Thomas's Trey Larkin tripled home the tying run in the sixth, and pinch hitter Cameron Tyson's sacrifice fly to right that followed allowed Larkin to cross with the go-ahead run. Trinity would have opportunities in the sixth and seventh but did not score.

Brigman's line was 5.1 IP, 4 R, 2 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, and 4 K. Drew Billings pitched 1.2 scoreless innings in relief.

Game 1 saw Thomas score six times in the first four innings and tack on two more in the sixth. Brayden Lawhon, Gabe Tafelski, and Michael Sowers all homered.

The Eagles have one double-header remaining in the regular season. TBC will host USCAA John Melvin Christian College beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 26. The Eagles will then await seeding and location for the South Region Tournament, which runs during the week of May 5-9. Seeding will determine the tournament's location.
