Baseball: Onkst Drives in 5 as Eagles Outslug Bob Jones
Ryan Onkst had a huge day at the plate, and his teammates added even more firepower as TBC Eagles Baseball won the rubber game of the series over South Region rival Bob Jones University. The Bruins mounted a comeback effort, but TBC added some insurance to finish with a 14-10 win.
Onskt drove in five runs on four hits and scored twice as TBC scored in six of their eight at-bats. He had a two-run single in the bottom of the fourth, a RBI single in the fifth, and a two-run single in the eighth. He also walked in the first and singled in the seventh.

The teams traded home runs in the first inning. BJU's Conley Burk homered for the second time in the series, and TBC's Gavin Williams returned the favor with his second home run of the season, a two-run shot to center that gave the Eagles the lead.

Neither team scored again until the fourth. Bob Jones got run-scoring singles from Evan Johnson and Burk, but Trinity came right back with a four-spot that featured a RBI single from Seth Reeves and a two-run single from Williams in addition to Onkst's two RBI. The Eagles never trailed again.
A repeat four-run inning happened in the fifth. Graham Gorman (runner for Larson Lott, walk) crossed the plate on a passed ball, and Dominic Gattinella hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Nate Nogueras (double). Onkst capped the rally, and the Eagles led 10-3.
In the sixth, however, the Bruins took advantage of hit batsmen, walks, passed balls, and an error to put five runs on the board and make the score 10-8.
Trinity, though, did not waiver. They scored 4 more times in the seventh (Lott RBI single) and eighth (Onkst two-run single) to add some insurance, and even though the Bruins tacked on single runs in each of the eighth and ninth, Drew Billings finished the game with two solid innings of relief to earn his third save of the season.
The Eagles' offense totaled 14 runs, 20 hits, 13 RBI, 6 walks, and 6 strikeouts in 8 at bats. Bob Jones had 10 runs, 14 hits, 8 RBI, 8 walks, and 4 strikeouts in 9 at bats.
Starter Gavin Comer earned the win with 5.2 innings, allowing 3 earned runs on 9 hits, 4 walks, and a strikeout. Andrew Mohler and Caiden Butler held the lead until Billings took over in the eighth.
The Eagles will next participate in the NCCAA Division 2 Invitational from February 13-15 in Arlington, Texas. Third-seeded TBC will face Arlington Baptist College on Thursday and Southeastern Baptist College and Champion Christian College on Friday. The title game is on Saturday.
The next home games are against NAIA New College of Florida on February 21 (single) and 22 (double-header).
