Toccoa Falls
The regular season ended on Saturday, and TBC Eagles Baseball face a hard-hitting Toccoa Falls College lineup. Offense was the story for both teams, but Toccoa outscored TBC in each contest.
Game 1: Toccoa Falls 9, Eagles 5
Logan McGann and Colin Sepulveda were each 3 for 4, and Parker Laffrey and Jordan Fernandez each had 2 hits while Ryan Onkst drove in 2 runs to help lead the offense.
Onkst put the Eagles out in front in the top of the third with a chopper into right that allowed Seth Reeves (error) and McGann (single) to score, but Toccoa took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth with 5 runs, including a three-run double from Bricen Blankenship.
TBC pulled a run closer in the fifth when Fernandez drove in McGann (single) with a base hit. However, a three-run home run from Charlie Compton in the bottom half made the score 8-4, and TFC eventually added on another.
Trinity's final at bat saw a RBI single from Nate Nogueras and a bases-loaded walk to Dominic Gattinella, but TFC's Zach Reid got the final out to end the game.
Game 2: Toccoa Falls 10, Eagles 7
McGann and Sepulveda each collected 2 more hits, and 5 different Eagles drove in runs.
In the second, McGann (sacrifice fly), Laffrey (ground ball), and David Hickey (single) all drove in runs in succession with two outs to pull TBC to within a run at 4-3.
Jacob Burke's single and Reeves's ground ball each scored runs in the third, and Trinity got 2 more in the sixth on an error.
Toccoa, however, broke the game open with 10 runs in the first three innings, including a 4-run first and a 3-run double from Hunter Martin in the second. Rylan Smith homered with two men on the third.
South Region Tournament
The Eagles will now await final seeding and scheduling for the NCCAA South Region Tournament, which begins on May 6 at Columbia International University (Columbia, SC).
