Baseball: Michel Tosses Shutout, Brigman Wins as Eagles Sweep Voorhees
Jose Michel and Jacob Brigman owned the mound, and the offense provided the starters with wins as TBC Eagles Baseball completed the sweep of both the Saturday double-header and three-game series with NAIA Voorhees University. Michel notched his second straight complete game victory without allowing an earned run, and Brigman was equally effective for five innings while getting tremendous help from the bullpen.
Game 1: Eagles 3, Voorhees 0
Michel allowed only 4 hits in 7 innings, walking 3 and striking out 6. He never allowed the Tigers to have multiple base runners in any inning and had a perfect 1-2-3 sixth. After a lead-off walk in the bottom of the seventh, Michel induced a 5-4-3 double play to erase the base runner. He then struck out the next and final batter to complete the shutout.

The offense provided all the run support Michel needed in the top of the first. Dominic Gattinella (error) and Gavin Williams (hit by pitch) both reached to start the game. David Hickey walked to load the bases. After a force out at the plate, Colin Sepulveda singled into left to score Williams and Hickey, giving the Eagles a 2-0 lead.
The final run came in the second thanks to Gattinella's base hit that drove in Drew Gifford, who singled with one out and promptly stole second.
Voorhees got a very strong outing from Xander Casarez, who also pitched a complete game. Casarez allowed only 4 hits himself while walking 3 and fanning 14.
Game 2: Eagles 8, Voorhees 4
The Eagles jumped out to quick 5-0 lead in the first with the rally starting after the first two men were out. Hickey (single), Jordan Fernandez (walk), and Sepulveda (walk) all reached to load the bases. Nate Nogueras then took ball four to bring in Hickey.
Jacob Burke followed with a double to right center to bring in Fernandez and Sepulveda, and Seth Reeves singled to plate Nogueras.
Voorhees closed the gap with four runs without a hit in the third on a hit batsman, a walk, and a pair of miscues, but that was all the Tigers would get.
TBC extended the lead to 7-5 in the fourth on a RBI single from Parker Laffrey to score Reeves (hit by pitch), and Laffrey soon after scampered home on a wild pitch. The final tally happened one inning later on a base hit from Reeves (Sepulveda, error).
Starter Jacob Brigman won it with 5 solid innings, allowing 4 unearned runs on only 2 hits; he walked 4 and struck out 5. In three of his innings, one or none reached base.

Drew Billings entered with two on and nobody out in the sixth and induced ground-ball force out at third then two short fly balls to strand the runners.
In the seventh, Nogueras took the mound with two on and one out but quickly ended the threat and the game with a pair of strikeouts to earn the save and preserve the win for Brigman.
